Chapter 6 marks the start of a new section, as the apostle Paul moves from outlining his gospel of justification by faith, to showing how grace also transforms our lives. If we understand that we are no longer in Adam but in Christ, we will begin to grasp that we have died to sin. That the power of sin is broken. That just as Jesus is raised then so are we. That we can live lives of liberty and freedom. This life of freedom is ours if we 1. Know what Christ has done for us (v3-10). 2. Count it to be true for our own lives (v11) and then 3. Take responsibility to live differently, empowered by the Spirit and give ourselves wholly to Him (v12-13).
