In the second part of Romans 13, Paul continues to teach his readers what it means to live as a Christian in a society which is inhospitable to their faith. Here he majors on Christian behaviour, using the images of owing a debt (vs 8-10), watching the time (vs 11-13), and wearing a uniform (v 14). We are encouraged to remember that being a Christian is not just believing certain things but also acting in love. We look forward in hope, knowing that ‘salvation is nearer now that when we first believed (v11)’
