At the start of Acts, Jesus prepares his disciples for his departure from earth and promises them that His Spirit would come in power when he goes out of sight. His disciples watch Jesus physically ascend into heaven, but they go with great joy because Jesus is on the throne, He is their advocate in Heaven and only through Him will they be able to ascend to be with Him forever. 

In this beautiful climax to John’s gospel Jesus forgives and restores Peter. We see not only Jesus’ grace on display but also his transforming love… Peter will never be the same again and as we encounter Jesus neither will we!

In one last glimpse of the story, Jesus reveals his power, his mission and his mercy to his disciples. Peter’s response to Jesus is to throw himself out of the boat to get to him.

We’ve already encountered Thomas in the story. He’s bold, committed and holds a position of privilege. But when they key moment comes, he mulfunctions. Later on we see him believing, restored and helping the gospel spread around the world. So what changed? Jesus showed up and spoke his peace to him.

Mary, John, and Peter’s race to the empty tomb illustrates the conditions of the Christian life. This message investigates where we find Jesus in the story and the consequences of placing him in the wrong position. The lesson for the way we run the Christian life is that we must acknowledge that Jesus has already won the race. In response, our lives are not a race ahead of Jesus but following him as the one who has already obtained the victory.

Together we work slowly through this poignant and powerful passage. In it we discover how Jesus’ vulnerability and pouring out of himself leads his followers to respond with incredible love and intimacy.

Bruised, bloodied and humiliated, Jesus is rejected several times by his people despite several attempts by a gentile governor Pilate, to have him released. The Jews, a religious people who had the prophesies about the Messiah, and who were to know better, forced the sentencing of Jesus to death. Are you a Christian, also rejecting Jesus like the Laodicean church?

Revelation ends as it began: by revealing Jesus Christ. In the final part of our series, we see the world as God intends it to be. Paradise, with access to God and His abundant provision. We the church, are encouraged to wait with hope in the meantime, with the promise that ‘He is coming soon’. We finish in prayer ‘Come Lord Jesus’!

John speaks to the future state of the world, the people of God and those who ultimately reject God. The message looks specifically at the hope we have in the new earth and the consequences for creation and created beings.
